from
Night Flowers,
released October 10, 2015
Propped up at the bar
Watching the girls display their mammalian delights
How strange, how lovely
Those kind of blooms that only come out at night
Les fleurs du Malbec
Fruit into flowers
Give off that old perfume
Les fleurs du Malbec
Blossom and shower
Filling all of the empty rooms
Unstriking of feature,
Two glasses ago, no one would have said she stood out
But the veil has lifted
Or perhaps it dropped, and her beauty doubt
We danced for a while
Close but not too near
And the music was the kind
That only we could hear
Alone in my room,
In the grey light of dawn, fighting a headache with sleep
How strange, how lovely
The dreams that spring up, from roots so very deep
